SAN DIEGO WEDDING LOCATIONS

Named "America's Finest City," San Diego, California is a very popular wedding destination. Welcoming thousands of weddings each year, San Diego's beautiful beaches, parks and resorts offer a myriad of wedding venue options.

I have performed wedding ceremonies for couples at numerous venues in San Diego County. It always helps things go more smoothly when your officiant is familiar with the venue you have chosen. From the Thursday Club in Point Loma and the The Prado in Balboa Park, to Calumet Park in La Jolla and the incredible views from the Admiral Kidd Club, I have had the pleasure of uniting couples from Oregon, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Arizona, and as far away as New Zealand and Switzerland.

I Have Performed Wedding Ceremonies at these San Diego Venues:

CENTENNIAL PARK

Centennial Park is a beautiful grassy park located on the north end of Coronado Island at First Street and Orange Avenue. Views of the City of San Diego skyline makes this a great spot for photos. Wonderful restaurants abound within walking distance of this venue. As with all the parks and beaches in Coronado, no permit is required if your group is under 25 people and there is no setup of wedding equipment. If your group is over 25 people or you are planning on reserving chairs, bamboo canopy and sound system, we must obtain the p ermit. NOTE: We also hold the required Coronado Business LIcense for vendors doing business within Coronado City limits.

SUNSET CLIFFS NATURAL PARK

Offering magnificent views of the Pacific Ocean, there are several truly inspiring wedding locations in the Sunset Cliffs Natural Park. Some areas offer easy access and plenty of parking, while others are best for larger weddings with chairs, arch, music, etc. There is also an area that is perfect for a smaller ceremony or elopement. Only one permit issued per day. The cliffs can be quite unforgiving, so if you are expecting toddlers or small children to be in attendance, the beaches and parks are a lot safer for the little ones.

PACIFIC BEACH / MISSION BEACH

Tthe beaches in this area may be a good choice for your "toes in the sand" dream beach wedding if you are considering an off-season wedding between the months of September and May. Beachfront rentals are plentiful in this fun-filled coastal area of San Diego, as are hotels and restaurants. We are happy to make recommendations on the best areas for your wedding, accommodations for your visit, and venues for your reception. Permits are required if there is setup of wedding equipment, but are NOT issued during the months of June, July and August.

CALUMET PARK

This ultra-private, quiet grassy park sits on the cliffs and is located in a residential area of the Bird Rock area in La Jolla, Calumet Park boasts sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean and the soothing sounds of the sea. Views, privacy and easy parking are the pluses for this location, and one of our San Diego Destination Wedding Packages is the perfect fit. With easy access and parking, permits are required if there is any set up of weddng equipment, and we are always happy to assist if you have questions.

ALCAZAR GARDEN - BALBOA PARK

The Alcazar Garden a peaceful and serene setting for a smaller wedding. Grecian columns and a raised staging area, are just two of the pluses at this location. After your ceremony, your photographer will take you to other areas of the park which offer distinctive backdrops for wedding photos. The Alcazar Garden only holds about 30 people comfortably and is a great choice for a smaller wedding or San Diego elopement. Other garden settings include the Marston House Grounds, Balboa Park Veterans Administrative Courtyard, and the Zoro Garden.

EMBARCADERO MARINA PARK NORTH & SOUTH

Two of our favorite shoreline parks are the Parks at the North and South end of the Embarcadero in downtown San Diego. Both areas feature breathtaking views of San Diego Bay, the open ocean and Coronado Island. Ample paid parking and restrooms are available with lots of great restaurants within walking distance that are perfect for your recepton. No permit is required for groups under 25 if there if no setup of wedding equipment. If your group is over 25 or you are planning for chairs, arch, and other decorations, a private event permit is required. We are always here to help :)

THE CUVIER WEDDING BOWL

One of most popular wedding spots in La Jolla, the Cuvier Wedding Bowl is located in Cuvier Street and Coast Blvd., right below the Museum of Contemporary Art. This small, grassy park is set below the street level and offers awesome views of the Pacific Ocean. Note that this park books up quickly, especially on weekends during the summer month and they only issue one permit per day. We offer a variety of wedding packages that are a perfect fit for this location.

HARBOR ISLAND PARK

If you prefer a grassy park with views of the City of San Diego skyline, then you may consider hosting your event at Harbor Island Park. Located off Harbor Drive between Point Loma and downtown San Diego, this large park offers cool breezes, shady trees and incredible views of the harbor and the City of San Diego skyline. Typically a very quiet area, ample parking and restrooms are available. No permit is required at Harbor Island Park for groups under 25 if there if no setup of wedding equipment. If your group is over 25 or you are planning for chairs, arch, and other decorations, a private event permit is required.

CORONADO BEACH

Coronado Beach one of the largest beaches in San Diego County and is the perfect spot for your "toes in the sand" wedding. No permit is required if your group is under 25 people, and is a good choice for smaller weddings and elopements where everyone is standing and there is no setup of wedding equipment. Permits are available at certain times of the year but are expensive, and are required for this beach if you are setting up arch, chairs or other wedding decor. Permits are NOT issued on holidays or holiday weekends, or on Saturdays and Sundays between May 1 and September 30. NOTE: You DO NOT have to go through the Hotel del Coronado to have your wedding on Coronado Beach. We also hold the required Coronado Business LIcense for vendors doing business within Coronado City limits.

BAYVIEW PARK

Located at the northern end of Coronado Island, this lovely, shaded park is a wonderful location for a wedding if your group is under 30 people. This small, grassy park offers not only privacy, but a stunning view of the City of San Diego skyline comparable to that of Centennial Park... with a more intimate feel. A permit is required at this location with a limit of 30 people. For larger groups, you may consider Centennial Park at First and Orange.

WINDANSEA BEACH – LA JOLLA

Windansea Beach is located in a residential area of La Jolla and is best known for incredible scenery with sandstone rocks that provide a beautiful backdrop for photos. For smaller groups, this beach is ideal and offers many lovely areas for your ceremony... and of course, incredible sunsets. The access to this beach is via staircase, and there is no wheelchair / handicap access. Due to the unpredictability of the tides and the potential for limited level sand areas, set up of wedding equipment is determined on a case-by-case basis.

SCRIPPS COASTAL RESERVE

Located in the La Jolla Farms area and commanding a view for 30 miles, the precipitous upland portion of the reserve is topped by a grassy knoll and bounded by steep coastal canyons. Parking in the immediate area is limited since it is located in a residential area, but there is plenty of parking on La Jolla Shores Drive which is just a short walk away. This is a wonderful, very private location perfect for an elopement or very small group, but It is about a 1/4 mile walk on a dirt trail from the reserve entrance to the cliffs... an important consideration if you have elderly guests.

TORREY PINES STATE RESERVE

The Torrey Pines State Reserve is located between La Jolla and Del Mar. is the home of our nation's rarest pine tree – Pinus torreyana also known as the Torrey Pine. There are several lovely locations in the preserve for a wedding ceremony. The Guy Fleming Trail view deck pictured to the left, is a particularly beautiful spot and offers a magnificent view of the Pacific Ocean. You must obtain a special event permit to have a wedding of any size in the reserve, or risk getting a ticket.

NORTH COUNTY BEACHES

There are many lovely beach and cliff locations along the coast that runs from Del Mar all the way to Oceanside. Some of my favorite North County coastal beaches include South Ponto State Beach in Carlsbad, Moonlight State Beach in Encinitas and South Ponto State Beach. If you are in town prior to your wedding, take a drive along our beautiful coastline and you will be sure to find the perfect place.
